Answers to Common Questions
We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions.
- Is there a communal kitchen?
Yes. Our kitchen can also be used by all guests to cook their own meals. Nevertheless, we only allow vegetarian foods in the premises, and that would be excluding egg.
- Is the tent really a tent?
Yes. When you arrive, it will be handed over to you for pitching in the garden. We offer ‘yoga mats’ for sleeping. Bedding can be availed for a small extra fee.
- Are toilet paper and towels included in the price?
Yes, and no. If you stay in our Luxury Room, it is included. Otherwise towels and toilet paper are available for a small extra fee.
- How can I get from the airport to your hostel?
The best way to get to our hostel from Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport is by taxi. Check out our detailed Directions to the Hostel page for more info.
- Do you offer pick-up service?
We do offer airport transfer against a fee, but Varanasi Junction (the city’s main train station) is so close that it will turn out to be extremely expensive to offer any pick-up/drop. We recommend walking to our hostel – it only takes a few minutes! It is however possible to arrange for transfers from/to Manduadih and Mughal Sarai Railway Stations.
- How far is the river/old city from ITH?
Our hostel is located about 3.5 km/20 min drive away from the town centre (Godowlia), and 4 km from the riverside (Dashashwamedh Ghat).

Old city of Varanasi is a beautiful place with magnificent riverside and on-river views – unmatched by anything else in the world!
We offer an offbeat Varanasi Travel Guide on our Travel Guides & Stories portal The Yellow Tuk-Tuk. Whilst our guide is designed for independent backpackers who prefer exploring unknown places on their own, we also offer on-demand morning and evening city tours for anyone who may fancy.
Each tour is about 2 hours long and costs Rs.300 /tour per person.
Note: Price mentioned only includes our staff’s guidance fee. Cost of transportation, e.g. rickshaw, tuk-tuk, boat ride, etc. will be extra.
